From the School District, see post HERE
Greetings, Londonderry School District Families:
As you know, since last Spring, the School District’s Emergency Operations and Procedures Committee (EOP) in partnership with the Londonderry Police Department School Resource Officers (SROs) have worked diligently to certify the District as an ALICE trained school community to best prepare our schools for a Violent Critical Incident. ALICE stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, and Evacuate.
Feel free to view this link to the ALICE Parent Information Night we held in September to learn more about ALICE and its implementation in Londonderry:
The next phase of our ALICE implementation is to prepare our students for the ALICE response system. When students return to school after Thanksgiving, their homeroom teachers will be using age-appropriate lesson plans from the Navigate360 ALICE website to discuss what ALICE is and what they would do in the event of a Violent Critical Incident. Individual schools will reach out to their families with what those specific lesson plans look like for your student’s grade level. We encourage you to talk with your students about ALICE and what they’ve learned during the week of 11/28.
Once we have prepared our students, we plan to have ALICE drills at each school during the week of 12/5 to practice just the Enhanced Lockdown and Barricading classrooms. SROs, School Administrators, and members of the EOP committee will be at each building to ensure all goes smoothly during the following ALICE Enhanced Lockdown/Barricade drill schedule:
December 5: 9:05 LHS
December 6: 9:00 LMS, 10:15 MH AM, 2:00 MT
December 7: 1:15 MH PM
December 8: 9:30 South, 2:00 North
December 9: Snow make up
Once drills are completed, building principals will reach out to let you know we have finished the drill.
We appreciate your support as we do our best to keep our school community safe. We are proud of our staff for taking ALICE seriously and protecting our students. Please reach out to your building administrators if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Daniel Black, Interim Superintendent
