Interim Superintendent Dan Black addressed the school board again regarding ‘Right to Know’ requests at the 12/13/2022 school board meeting. Black is opposed to changing current Policy KBA which requires in person meetings. Black is insisting that all transfers of information happen only in person at the school district office during business hours.
School Board member Bob Slater disagreed. Slater would like information to be easily accessible and available through email.
A motion from Salter asked that the current policy be amended. The motion passed 4 to 1. Chair person Amy Finamore was opposed.
Finamore in her roll as chair has consistently restricted the public and it’s access to the board. The school board has moved public comment from one of the first agenda items to late in the evening. In some cases the public was not allowed to address the board until 11 PM. The board under the leadership of the chair has enacted new rules restricting individuals to only 3 minutes. A state law requiring school boards allow public comment was enacted largely on the actions of the Londonderry School Board chair. In todays busy society we should be moving to sharing information, not installing road-block to the publics access.
