From the Eagle Tribune:
Londonderry board denies variance for driving school
Classes have been held at Presbyterian Church for several years

LONDONDERRY — The Zoning Board of Adjustment denied a request allowing a local driving school to remain in operation at the Londonderry Presbyterian Church on Pillsbury Road.
Al Cardello came before the board at a meeting May 18, requesting a variance that would allow the school to continue offering classroom instruction as an accessory use at the church at 126 Pillsbury Road.
Cardello had moved his Complete Auto Driving School classes to the church several years ago after operating at the nearby Londonderry Lions Hall on Mammoth Road.
Cardello was represented at the meeting by attorney Ashley Scott of Cronin, Bisson, Zalinsky, PC.
The driving school had come before the town in past years in two different situations including a decision last year when the Zoning Board denied Cardello’s request for relief from an administrative order to stop using the church for his driving classes.
Cardello took the matter to court and was allowed a stay at the church until a further decision came on this variance request.
It was the zoning of the area that came into question with board members, and the fact that Cardello was running a for-profit business enterprise in an area zoned AR-1, Agricultural Residential, and not an allowed use.
