The article ‘Local publisher returned to Town Council’ began with an incorrect statement. Councilor Paul was not ‘voted out’ three years ago, Councilor Paul did not seek reelection. The article goes on to quote former Town Councilor John Farrell and newly elected Councilor Deb Paul<\/p>\n\n\n\n Excerpts from the article are below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Paul previously served on the board from 2020 to 2022.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cTwo of my biggest (goals) are to look at ways to control growth in the town and allow more resident input at public meetings,\u201d Paul continued. \u201cMany community members have come to me about traffic and growth issues in the town and I hope to address them while on the board.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n But her win does not come without controversy for Farrell and likeminded individuals in town.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cDeb Paul has no vision for Londonderry. She only serves to create chaos,\u201d Farrell said. \u201cShe has a 100% conflict of interest and I believe every ethics standard of journalism says that you should not be running for office.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n In response to those who believe her role at the paper presents a conflict of interest as an elected official, Paul said, \u201cHaving lived in town for nearly 30 years and publishing a paper for 25-years, I know how to separate my work from the job on the council.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Farrell is also concerned about the current Town Council:<\/p>\n\n\n\n A longtime incumbent, Farrell said he\u2019s learned anything can happen at town elections, but said he was worried about the new council\u2019s lack of experience, lack of understanding of local government and lack of institutional knowledge.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cI wish everyone all the best and good luck. I hope the town holds the council accountable for everything they\u2019ve promised,\u201d Farrell said. \u201cI\u2019m curious to see how they will fulfill their campaign promises.\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
