It must leave their elders furious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Town Manager Shaun Mulholland is being &#8220;investigated.&#8221; Citizens have a right to know why. But the manager says even he doesn&#8217;t know. Indeed, when he heard that someone was asking town workers about him, he thought it was some sort of scam. Perhaps it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">What he and the taxpayers do know is that the town has broken through its budget for outside legal expenses and the sky seems no limit. And why would it be? A closed door meeting resulted in the investigation of the manager. Two councilors are demanding an investigation of another councilor. And the council chair and vice chair are now a committee of two to decide who gets paid what for which legal move.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That move caused manager Mulholland to point out that they may want to check with &#8211; get this &#8211; legal counsel. Why? It may violate the town charter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">But which counsel should the council call? At least three law firms seem to be involved these days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Whatever is going on, the citizens of Londonderry deserve to know. We suspect that the town manager would agree and would waive any personal confidentiality issue that is blocking the public from knowing.
