I will not allow us to be a mockery in our community. That will not happen. People may not like me and that\u2019s OK. I\u2019m not here to be liked.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This was part of Bernard\u2019s first regular report to the Town Council since he was reappointed acting town manager two weeks earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bernard, who is also the local police chief, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unionleader.com\/news\/article_18e44bd2-e8c4-11ef-8d1f-c70e72a3d078-3273bedd\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">previously served in this role about 14 months ago<\/a> before Mulholland started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Town Council voted 3-2 to fire Mulholland on Sept. 21, citing several disputes with elected officials.
