{"id":661,"date":"2016-04-09T12:15:38","date_gmt":"2016-04-09T16:15:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/townunderground.com\/?p=661"},"modified":"2016-04-09T12:15:38","modified_gmt":"2016-04-09T16:15:38","slug":"lt-town-council-approves-contract-to-buy-new-recycling-bins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/townunderground.com\/?p=661","title":{"rendered":"LT: Town Council Approves Contract to Buy New Recycling Bins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From the Londonderry Times:<\/p>\n<p class=\"entry-title\"><strong><a title=\"Permalink to Town Council Approves Contract to Buy New Recycling Bins\" href=\"http:\/\/londonderrytimes.net\/2016\/04\/town-council-approves-contract-buy-new-recycling-bins\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Town Council Approves Contract to Buy New Recycling Bins<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"entry-meta\"><time class=\"entry-date updated\" datetime=\"2016-04-06T16:00:30+00:00\">April 6, 2016<\/time> <span class=\"byline\"> by <span class=\"author vcard\"><a class=\"url fn n\" title=\"View all posts by Kaitlyn G Woods\" href=\"http:\/\/londonderrytimes.net\/author\/kwoods\/\" rel=\"author\">Kaitlyn G Woods<\/a> <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Town Council has approved a contract with Schaefer Systems to provide recycling carts to Londonderry households in advance of the Town\u2019s new bi-weekly recycling program, which is to kick off in July.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Schaefer Systems submitted the lowest bid of $401,625 for 8,500, 96-gallon recycling bins at a cost of $47.25 per unit; and $11,556 for 300, 35-gallon wheeled cart bins at a cost of $38.52 per unit.<span id=\"more-32394\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The total cost of purchasing the new bins is $413,181, to be paid from the Reclamation Trust Fund.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Public Works Director Janusz Czyzowski said he anticipates the Town will increase their collection of recyclables, despite the shift to bi-weekly collections, as the volume of the new bins is substantially larger than that of the bins residents were previously using to collect recyclables.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Residents who want an additional bin for collecting recyclables may purchase one from the Town at the same unit price the Town paid.
