Update 2\/22\/2024: I asked how the Town Clerk compensation was set at the 2\/20\/2024 Town Council Meeting. Chairman John Farrell’s response was ‘Thankyou’ no one answered the question. The Town Clerk was in the audience at the time<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With two candidates running for Town Clerk the question has been raised how is the yearly compensation set for the Clerks position. In the event that a new Clerk is elected will the compensation remain the same?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An email sent on 2\/7\/2024 to the Town Manager asking how the Town Clerk is compensated was not returned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A bit of history regarding the Clerks position. In 2013 the Town had a single position for Town Clerk and Tax Collector. To reduce costs the Town Council proposed Article 2 2014 which separated the duties and compensation of the Tax Collector and Town Clerk. The article passed.<\/p>\n\n\n

The current Town Clerk was elected on March 11, 2014.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Town Annual Reports indicates yearly compensation as follows:
2014 – $30,000.00
2015 – $37,500.00
2016 – $37,500.00
2017 – $49,500.00
2018 – $55,158.37
2019 – $47,010.63
2020 – $62,052.33
2021 – $66,543.36
2022 – $70,869.60<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The compensation of the current Tax Collector from the 2022 Annual Report is $62,544.32<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The question still remains how is the Town Clerk compensated?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
