{"id":9225,"date":"2024-08-07T12:56:29","date_gmt":"2024-08-07T16:56:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/townunderground.com\/?p=9225"},"modified":"2024-08-07T12:56:29","modified_gmt":"2024-08-07T16:56:29","slug":"nhdot-reminder-to-candidates-regarding-placement-of-political-signs-2024","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/townunderground.com\/?p=9225","title":{"rendered":"NHDOT Reminder to Candidates Regarding Placement of Political Signs, 2024"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>From the NH DOT Facebook <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NHDOT\/posts\/903211055167206\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/NHDOT\/posts\/903211055167206\">page<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NHDOT Reminder to Candidates Regarding Placement of Political Signs<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Highway Safety is Paramount! <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udea8\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t45\/1\/16\/1f6a8.png\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another election year is upon us, and the Department of <a><\/a>Transportation is once again reminding candidates and their campaign workers about proper placement of political signs:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udeab\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t6f\/1\/16\/1f6ab.png\">The law prohibits placement of political signs on the interstate highways, including the entrance and exit ramps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\udeab\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t6f\/1\/16\/1f6ab.png\">The law prohibits placement of political signs on or affixed to utility poles or highway signs, including delineators.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\u26a0\ufe0f\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tdc\/1\/16\/26a0.png\">Signs that create a traffic hazard or obstruct the safe flow of traffic will be removed. Signs affixed to bridges create a traffic hazard and will be removed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\u26a0\ufe0f\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/tdc\/1\/16\/26a0.png\">Signs will be removed to perform maintenance, and this is prime mowing season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" alt=\"\ud83d\uded1\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t9b\/1\/16\/1f6d1.png\">Placement of signs on private property requires permission from the landowner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t6f\/1\/16\/1f6ab.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\udeab\">Signs on private property that obstruct traffic signs or signals, or restrict a motorist\u2019s field of view at an intersection, will be removed as a traffic hazard. (RSA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/XX\/236\/236-1.htm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/XX\/236\/236-1.htm\">236:1<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/XX\/236\/236-73.htm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/XX\/236\/236-73.htm\">236:73<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"16\" width=\"16\" src=\"https:\/\/static.xx.fbcdn.net\/images\/emoji.php\/v9\/t9b\/1\/16\/1f6d1.png\" alt=\"\ud83d\uded1\">Candidates are required to remove all political signs by the second Friday following the election, unless the election is a primary and the advertising concerns a winning candidate. (RSA <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/LXIII\/664\/664-17.htm\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.gencourt.state.nh.us\/rsa\/html\/LXIII\/664\/664-17.htm\">664:17<\/a>.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In an effort to best use the Department\u2019s resources, NHDOT Commissioner William Cass has written to the political party chairs and political candidate regarding placement of political signs. In the event the Department needs to remove political signs for safety or maintenance, the signs will be held at the local patrol headquarters until one week after the election and then discarded.
