Over the last two Town Council Meetings the new Town Council Chairman, Chad Franz, has asked “Why is this article a good idea”.

The Council has discussed Article 17 and 18. At the 5/20 meeting they will discuss article 19 continuing the trend of asking ‘Why’ the voters voted the way they did. Although billed as a ‘discussion’ on the agenda the Chair only allows residents to speak once, the chairman has stated that he will not allow follow up questions.
These are the articles being discussed with the vote count of each
Article 17, Yes 2686 / No 1430 – Planning Board as elected positions?
Article 18, Yes 3085 / No 1077 – Include public input at the start and end of each meeting
Article 19, Yes 3125 / No 1017 – Committees and board shall meet at a time the best for the general population
Article 20 Yes – 3204 / No 933 – Record Public meetings
Article 22 Yes – 2427 / No 1621 – Remove the word “Advisory” from “Budget Committee”
The resident clearly spoke on all articles and voted accordingly. Why is the Town Council Chairman asking “Is this a good idea” now? Will the Town Council Chairman ask if other ballot questions which passed with far slimmer margins ‘Is a good idea’?
Chairman Franz should be asking “How do we implement what the residents asked for” and stop wasting time.
