As many readers are aware the Town passed Article 18 with a note of Yes 3085 / No 1077 in March. The article asked to “Include public input at the start and end of each meeting”. While the Town Council is slow rolling any action on the article and Chairman, Chad Franz, is refusing to answer if he would add public comment to the end of their meetings, the Library Trustees have moved forward with the will of the voters. The 5/1/2024 Library Trustee meeting and 5/22/2024 sub-committee meeting both have a published agenda items for a second public comment session at the end of the meeting.
Sadly the Town Council has moved backward in public comment since the passage of Article 18. The Chairman’s new rules now restrict residents from speaking only once during public comment. The new rule has not been questioned by a single councilor!
The Library Trustees have demonstrated, what many have stated to the Town Council, we do not need to wait two years to amend the Town Charter to move forward with what voters have clearly asked for.
