Over the last two weeks two petitions have surfaced in social media. One claiming the Londonderry Leach Library is run by an ‘incompetent, unethical, and malicious’ group of Library Trustees and the other supporting the Library Trustees. The petitions are below.

To Londonderry Town Council members, the Town Manager, Leach Library Trustees and Staff, and our fellow Londonderry citizens:
We, the undersigned, express our support for the Leach Library Board of Trustees, and in particular their efforts to increase fiscal transparency, improve governance, and ensure compliance with local and state regulations at the Leach Library.
We appreciate the Library staff and acknowledge their work in creating and maintaining a community resource valued by many Londonderry citizens.
We acknowledge that with a newly composed Board of Trustees, updated Bylaws, and a renewed focus on transparency, governance, and compliance, there will be procedural and policy changes.
We emphasize that per the Board’s Bylaws and New Hampshire RSA 202-A, the Library Board of Trustees is the governing body of the Library. We support efforts to collaborate more closely with the new Town Manager and town government to continue improving procedures and policies for both Board meetings and Library operations.
In particular, we respectfully request that initiatives by groups resisting the above-referenced changes by personally singling out individual trustees, be thoroughly evaluated in light of the Bylaws, RSA 202-A, and the factual basis and tone of such attacks before countenancing them.

Dear Councilor Bouchard,
As you already know, the Leach Library board of trustees is riddled with incompetence, unethical behavior, and frankly, malicious intent. Liz Thomas, Jan McLaughlin, Christine Fitzgerald, and Moira Ryan have launched a targeted campaign against the library and the community it serves. These individuals have participated in illegal meetings, violated financial procedure, and have proven to be inept at working as a group and running functional meetings. The Leach Library is a valued resource to our community, and it cannot continue to provide services, programs, and information if this behavior continues. We cannot wait until the next election. Please initiate removal procedures (or urge them to resign) so that new trustees, ones who can uphold the law and ethical values, can take over.
Why is this important?
The Leach Library provides vital services to the public such as free information, databases, and educational programming. The current board of trustees has proven to disregard these fundamental resources by mismanaging the library and its staff. The board is pushing for more oversight and less programming. If this continues, the library will not be able to provide the same quantity or quality of services it currently offers. This will impact our whole community, with devastating effect.
