7/20/2026 Former Town Councilor John Farrell criticized Union Leader and Londonderry Times for what he described as controlling the narrative. Farrell specifically targeted the Londonderry Times owned by councilor Deb Paul, arguing that the reporters are pushing a narrative that contradicts the will of the voters expressed in recent elections.
In reference to the Union Leader Farrell stated “It’s sad what is being controlled here in some sort of narrative in the Union Leader and it seems only a handful of people or one person is talking to this reporter…..it’s amazing”
Farrell referred to a ‘local newspaper’ while holding a copy of the Londonderry Times. ‘The bylines are the Paul family Deb Paul and Chris Paul’ ‘obviously they are writing articles not about what Londonderry is about’
Farrell the recounted the last election where Kristine Perz and Alan Roy lost by a ‘landslide’ and argued that supporters of Perez and Roy are still here ‘complaining about all these different things and that is not what Londonderry is about, it’s not what we want to be as a community’
Farrell addressed non-public meetings stating ‘All these non meeting and non-public meeting, I actually know what they are, I know sort of what goes on, because some of you actually talk about what goes on in those meetings, that’s disgraceful and disgusting’ following up Farrell stated ‘this nonsense needs to stop in this opinion paper’ referring to the Londonderry Times and ‘this one trying to control the narrative in the Union Leader written by a young reporter’
Farrell urged the town council to act with integrity and transparency, particularly regarding private meetings and personnel matters like the hiring of a fire chief. He emphasizes that the council’s primary duty is to provide essential services rather than engaging in political infighting or deception. Finally, he calls for a return to honesty, defending the character of certain residents while highlighting the importance of community unity.
