March 3, 2025 the Town Council appoints Shaun Mulholland as the new Town Manager, following a rigorous search process that began in early 2025. While Police Chief Kim Bernard filled the role temporarily, the Town Council ultimately selected Mulholland due to his extensive municipal leadership experience in Lebanon, New Hampshire. During the meeting, council members defended their decision to vote before an upcoming election, arguing that delaying the process would disrespect the candidate and waste months of preparatory work. Despite some public calls for a delay, the board emphasized that their unanimous agreement signals stability and professional continuity for the community. The transition is set to become official on June 1st, 2025, marking the end of a leadership vacancy that began the previous autumn. This selection aims to provide the town with a qualified permanent administrator while avoiding the need to restart a lengthy recruitment cycle with a new council.
Town Councilor Shawn Faber, Ted Combes, Chad Franz, and Ron Dunn voted in favor of the appointment. Council John Farrell abstained from voting, citing the upcoming election.
