LONDONDERRY — The Town Council ousted the town manager last week, over what the chair categorized as various misconduct, defying its instructions and obstructing ongoing investigations.
Council voted, 3 to 2, on Sept. 21 to remove Town Manager Shaun Mulholland from office during its Monday meeting. Mulholland was dismissed of his duties at the beginning of the meeting as Town Council Chair Ron Dunn said the council had a “pressing matter” to address.
Mulholland stepped into the role of town manager in June 2025.
Police Chief Kim Bernard will serve as acting town manager for 120 days.
Councilors Dan Bouchard and Deb Paul voted in opposition to terminating Mulholland as well as opposing appointing Bernard in the interim role.
Details are sparse about the ongoing investigations by local officials undertaken this year with legal bills piling up. Mulholland had previously called for the basic information to be released, but the council voted on July 20 not to disclose it.
