Councilor John Farrell announced at the 8/12/2024 council meeting that Governor Sununu had appointed him Chairman of the the NH Water Council for a two year term (July 24, 2024 to December 27, 2026)
Farrell stated he had done a lot of what Londonderry was doing and the Master Plan. Farrell asked the Council to get a briefing from the Planning department and Planning board as to why the chose to go down the path of he Master Plan which will take approximately 12 to 18 months versus updating Londonderry regulations. Farrell questioned why resource are being spent on a strategic plan when there is only 20% of buildable space remaining. Farrell estimates the cost of brining water to all Londonderry residents at $200-300 million. Farrell would like to review with the Planning department how they could work with Londonderry Representatives in concord to change state law. Councilors Faber and Dunn stated that the Master Plan committee had already begun meetings. Farrell stated they had only held two meetings.
The council agreed to have the Jake Butler, Planning Board Chair, attend a future meeting to discuss why the board decided to pursue updating the Master Plan
