The Derry News and Eagle Tribune ran an article covering last weeks election.
The article ‘Local publisher returned to Town Council’ began with an incorrect statement.
LONDONDERRY — Local weekly publisher Deb Paul of the Londonderry Times will return to the Town Council after being voted out three years ago.
Councilor Paul was not ‘voted out’ three years ago, Councilor Paul did not seek reelection. The article goes on to quote former Town Councilor John Farrell and newly elected Councilor Deb Paul
Excerpts from the article are below.
Paul previously served on the board from 2020 to 2022.
“Two of my biggest (goals) are to look at ways to control growth in the town and allow more resident input at public meetings,” Paul continued. “Many community members have come to me about traffic and growth issues in the town and I hope to address them while on the board.”
But her win does not come without controversy for Farrell and likeminded individuals in town.
“Deb Paul has no vision for Londonderry. She only serves to create chaos,” Farrell said. “She has a 100% conflict of interest and I believe every ethics standard of journalism says that you should not be running for office.”
In response to those who believe her role at the paper presents a conflict of interest as an elected official, Paul said, “Having lived in town for nearly 30 years and publishing a paper for 25-years, I know how to separate my work from the job on the council.”
Farrell is also concerned about the current Town Council:
A longtime incumbent, Farrell said he’s learned anything can happen at town elections, but said he was worried about the new council’s lack of experience, lack of understanding of local government and lack of institutional knowledge.
“I wish everyone all the best and good luck. I hope the town holds the council accountable for everything they’ve promised,” Farrell said. “I’m curious to see how they will fulfill their campaign promises.”

What a windbag. So he’s the only one with experience cause he’s been there for 16 years?? How has this town managed to succeeds for the last 400 years? Please stay home Mr Farrell. We don’t need or want you. But I do think a forensic audit of your finances might be in order.
