A public hearing is scheduled for 7:15 on Monday, May 11, 2026, for receipt of oral testimony. Prior to the public hearing, NHDES will hold a public information session from 5:45 to 7 p.m. The information session will include an overview of the proposed facilities and information on the permitting process and will conclude with a question-and-answer period to provide members of the public an opportunity to ask questions of the applicant and NHDES. These events require separate registration, if you wish to attend both sessions, register for both.
PurposeEnergy seeks a standard permit to construct and operate an anaerobic digester processing and treatment facility that will receive discarded food waste from dairy factories and from the proposed onsite depackaging plant operated by RecyclingWorks. The first phase of the anaerobic digester will have a design capacity of 715 tons per day and a storage capacity of 800,000 gallons for premixing.
Recycleworks seeks a standard permit to construct and operate a depackaging processing and treatment facility. Product packaging will be removed for recycling and organics will be processed to a slurry and piped directly to the adjacent PurposeEnergy facility for anaerobic digestion. The facility will receive up to 900 tons of food and beverage waste on a daily basis and has a total storage capacity of 450 tons.
