Lets recap recent Planning Board activities. The Planning Board is in the process of adopting new rules of procedure. The Planning Board Meets in Non-Public Session to Discuss Barring Public Comment At Meetings will not allow public comment outside of public hearings. The Town of Londonderry will not release the 4 reason why the board will not allow public comment.
At the 1/10/2024 meeting a resident took issue with comments that appear to have been directed at him at the 12/12/2023 meeting. Earlier at the 12/12 meeting the resident asked about a beaver dam and a bobcat that was located on the property being developed. At the 1/10 meeting the resident attempted to speak to those comments but Art Rugg, Chairman, deemed him out of order and would not allow him to continue. The chair stated it was between the engineer and resident and they could discuss it in the hall.
Why is it that a resident can be subjected to joking and ridicule during a public meeting, but that same resident cannot respond publicly? The only option given is to attend a Town Council Meeting and address concerns at the Planning Board. Sadly the Town Council has a habit of closing public comment only to speak about residents, knowing they cannot respond. Public Comment – Out of Order!
Video of the two meetings are below.
