Town Council meeting 12/1/2025 discussing Planning Board appointments, which proposed naming John Farrell and Tony DeFrancesco as full-time members. While the proponents argued the nominations fostered a necessary balance of experience and fresh faces, the discussion quickly devolved into a bitter ethical dispute. One council member, Dan Bouchard, vehemently opposed John Farrell’s appointment, accusing him of being complicit in an “illegal” land use tax agreement involving the Woodmont development that financially short-changed the town. Bouchard demanded that the nominator recuse himself and alleged a pre-planned corruption scheme involving “backdoor deals.” Despite the angry protests, the contentious motion was voted upon and ultimately passed, concluding the public meeting with highly uncivil and personal insults hurled between council members.
Town Councilors Ron Dunn, Shawn Faber and Ted Combes voted in favor of the motion. Councilor Dan Buchard and Deb Paul were opposed.
