The Londonderry Town Council is pleased to announce that the role of Acting Town Manager will transition from Recreation Director Art Psaledas to Police Chief Kim Alan Bernard to allow Psaledas to return his focus to the Recreation Department. The transition will be effective as of 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 11.
Psaledas has served as Acting Town Manager since December 3, 2024, following the resignation of the previous Town Manager. Psaledas accepted the appointment to the role with the understanding that early spring is a busy season for the Recreation Department as they hire and prepare for summer, and come that time, he would like to return his focus to those duties.
Psaledas stated, “My time in the Town Manager’s office gave me chance to get to know the Town and the staff on deeper level. I am happy that I could help the Town navigate a time of transition, and I know that Chief Bernard is up to the challenge of taking over the reins. I’m looking forward to getting back to my routine in recreation.”
“I have enjoyed serving the community over the past 24 years, and I am dedicated to continuing to do so in any capacity I can,” said Chief Bernard. “The Town has a dynamic team of professionals across all departments doing excellent work and I’m grateful to Art for his leadership to date and his partnership in this transition.”
Chief Bernard has been employed by the Londonderry Police Department since 2001. He began his career in Londonderry as a patrolman, working his way up through the ranks to become Chief of Police in 2022.
According to Section 4.5 of the Londonderry Town Charter, an Acting Town Manager appointment is for a period of up to 120 days. The application period for the permanent Town Manager position ended on Friday, February 7, 2025.
