Yesterdays post Reviewing the Anonymous Hotline and Public Corruption Policies seems to have been spurred by a number of recent anonymous complaints filed against members of the Town Council, one Budget Committee member, and a Planning Board member.
Between October 2025 and March 12, 2026 the following complaints were filed:
11/17/2025 – Town Councilor Dan Bouchard – Property Tax Fraud
11/17/2025 – Town Council Deb Paul – Compliance & Ethics
01/13/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber – Sexual Harassment
01/24/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber and Budget Committee member Sarah Meier – Conflict of Interest
02/20/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber and Planning Board Member Jeff Penta – Code of Ethics Violation
03/02/2026 – Town Councilor Deb Paul – Code of Ethics Violation
The two complaints filed in November of 2025 were publicly addressed by the Town Council. The complaints filed in 2026 have not, to my knowledge, been presented at a public town council meeting. Town Council Chairman Ron Dunn did not respond to an email asking if the 2026 complaints were being investigated. Councilor Dunn has stated ‘Its costing us a lot of legal money’
At the March 15, 2026 Town Council meeting Councilor Faber was in favor of removing the complaint system. Councilors Bouchard and Paul argue for stricter guidelines to ensure only documented or credible complaints are investigated. Chairman Dunn stated he will bring the topic back for further discussion at a future council meeting.
A quotes from Councilor Bouchard which I believe rings true in these complaints:
‘In another community it might work well, here the political environment is toxic, and people are using this as a political tool to go after certain people”
03/02/2026 – Town Councilor Deb Paul – Code of Ethics Violation
02/20/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber and Planning Board Member Jeff Penta – Code of Ethics Violatio
01/24/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber and Budget Committee member Sarah Meier – Conflict of Interest
01/13/2026 – Town Councilor Shawn Faber – Sexual Harassment
11/17/2025 – Town Council Deb Paul – Compliance & Ethics
11/17/2025 – Town Councilor Dan Bouchard – Property Tax Fraud
